Argent for Opening Times - 07/08/09
We are delighted to have been asked to brew a special beer to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Opening Times. The award-winning Stockport and South Manchester CAMRA publication has been very supportive since the very early days of Bazens Brewery.
Argent is 4.2% and hoppy with a hint of lychees. Available at The New Oxford, Salford, The Trackside, Bury and The Steam House, Urmston. The summer special is Julius (because of the fact that the month of July was named in honour of Julius Caesar, or Andrew Flintoff as we know him today). This pale ale is 4.0%, light amber in colour with a citrusy spicy hop character. top The third in the series is Salford Flyer (4.1%). 2009 sees the centenary of the first all-British powered flight by A V Roe who was born in Patricroft, Salford in 1877. Roe flew 30m in his triplane, a replica of which can be seen in Manchesters Museum of Science and Industry.
Roe, together with his brother, went on to set up Avro aircraft manufacturers in 1910 in Manchester and Oldham.
The first two in the series are Broken Britain and Jog On - These refer to a short film made in Salford with Salford crew and cast. For more information about Broken Britain, contact the brewery.
